A Full Report On My Personal Thoughts & Review On RE6…(Contains Spoilers!!)

After a busy several weeks, I finally tested the RE6 Public Demo via Xbox LIVE – Leon S. Kennedy Campaign, I was so excited for this moment to come and was hogged into the demo, just would not stop playing, it was that good, so I tried all the 3 campaigns, but Leon’s one comes first. Read my report below for more:
Everyone knows on FruityGamers.com that I am a hardcore fan of the Resident Evil Franchise developed by Capcom Co and I would like to tell you about my history on Resident Evil games that I have played over the decade. My love for Resident Evil began when I played Resident Evil 2, 3 & finally the 4th game (the first third person – survival horror shooter with the over-the-top shoulder camera view was introduced to the series) on the PS2 since I was a kid.

It was the survival horror and the dark, scary environment in the game that got me hooked and surely was the fright of my life when you enjoy playing in the dark, until your heart pops out that is… (Don’t play in the dark!) I also loved the cliché scenarios from the previous games had offered.
Fast forward now, to the year 2009; RESIDENT EVIL 5 (the second third person shooter with the over-the-top shoulder camera view after Resident Evil 4) was a success as it sold 5.8 million copies worldwide. United Kingdom reported RESIDENT EVIL 5 was among the fastest selling game in the series for Xbox 360 and PS3. This was because of its tremendous gameplay and its graphics were just so beautiful in HD. After the massive hit RESIDENT EVIL 5 shot up the charts, Capcom secretly was developing the next game for the next-gen video game consoles. But they did not want to expose the surprise just yet, so they fooled the public that there was no development on future titles and kept it top secret meaning restricted.
Early 2012, was a fresh, good start for Capcom. RESIDENT EVIL 6 was announced to the public after a set of rumours/leaks from late last year via the internet after two people showcased their CV on their work for the voices of several characters in RESIDENT EVIL 6 and the return of survival horror with zombies. However the game had a combination of horror/action/fun and is a great game with less disappointment.
Moving Onto RESIDENT EVIL 6 Public Demo – Leon Campaign Review

Warning! Contains Spoilers!!
My reviews are normally elaborate in describing my thoughts and feelings; so hints and/or reveals of the story, character development, and any other plot twists regarding the topic that it covers may arise during to the amount of detail required for suggestions. Being mindful of the fact that spoilers could come into play; you may be better off watching or reading/and or playing the content or material before reading this review. Thank you for your attention and happy reading!
Where To Download The RE6 Public Demo Via Xbox LIVE Marketplace?

It’s simple really, Go onto your Xbox 360 console, sign in to your Xbox LIVE gamer profile and head to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for “demos” on the new fall update Xbox 360 dashboard(If you have been chosen to try out the public beta test via Microsoft Connect, you will get the fall Xbox 360 dashboard update early with Internet Explorer 9). I clicked on “Newly Released” tab to choose to download the free RE6 Public Demo (889.07MB in size). It will take less than half hour or so to download. Once the download is complete, go on to “My Games” tab on the Xbox 360 dashboard and then look for “RESIDENT EVIL 6 Public Demo”. You’re all set to play the demo in style!
A welcome screen will appear displaying on your TV “RESIDENT EVIL 6 Public Demo”, not too long after it finishes displaying the disclaimer about the game’s development is still in progress, as you may expect some minor bugs during gameplay, (thank god there were no screen-tearing issues while playing the game or when a cutscene is initiated). Push the start button located on your Xbox 360 controller and you will see a message saying “To play online, you must be signed in as a GOLD member to be capable of playing online”. I chose to play offline for the time being. Next, push the start button again on your Xbox 360 controller and choose the option to “Play Game”. (Also there is an “Options menu”. It generally contains basic settings such as; Controls, Camera Angle, Game Settings, Display, Audio, and includes a Reset to Default Setting). Two more options come up, “Campaign” and “Join Game”. I chose “Campaign” to play straight away.
Okay, let’s find out what the demo has to offer.
Campaign Scenario Summaries

For this portion of the demo, you have to play the first of three campaigns to experience what it is like. So the first one is Leon’s Campaign, second is Chris’s Campaign, and third is Jake’s Campaign. Try them all out. I decided to start from Leon, Chris and finally Jake.
Begin With Leon

Leon S. Kennedy (right) with partner Helena Harper (left)

Choosing the option of “Leon” gives me the chance to play one of my favourite main characters in the demo, or I get to play as Helena Harper (Leon’s partner). I chose “Leon” to start with. I am then given an option of choosing whether I want my Network Selection to be on Xbox LIVE, System Link, or Offline with the ability to change the “Partner Join” to “Allow”, “ Don’t Allow”, and “Private”. I do really admit that it is a nice touch to choose what type of setting most suits you, because maybe you want someone to join in assisting you throughout the mission. For the first play though, I chose “Don’t Allow” to play solo.
After choosing “Start Game”, a pop-up message will display, “creating game selection!” It will then show you the control layout scheme, displaying the controls on how to play the demo (beginners). The demo immediately starts with a cinematic scene dating on June 23rd 2013 at Ivy University in Tall Oaks,USA. The Campus is under attack as the latest bio-terror and the deliberate leakage of the C-virus (the fog) affects everyone in the building, nationwide and the whole country including the President of the United States, Adam Benford. Leon sees a flashback of him and the President tackling bioterrorism together and shared a common bond together. He had to make a decision quickly as he is forced to shoot the zombified President Adam Benford, as he was about to succumb Helena Harper. After Leon shot the President, both Leon and Helena were in shock. Helena confesses to Leon that the attacks was done by her and saying that it was all her fault, as Leon was surprised or shocked by the news and when Helena knew his name. Leon and Helena receive a call from the S.D.O (Security Division Operations) Ingrid Hunningan. Leon now knows that the woman working as her partner is Helena Harper and she is a secret government agent working for the S.D.O.
Leon reports to Hunningan that he shot the President. Shocked by the news of the President’s death, Hunningan informs both Leon and Helena to escape the campus asap, as they are now wanted criminals for their involvement in the President’s death. Helena convinces Leon to follow her to the Tall Oaks Cathedral so she can explain everything about the incident and her involvement.
The gameplay begins with you controlling Leon as Helena leads or you lead the way
The mission starts in an abandoned campus, soon to find out that a mysterious black fog infects people in contact with the substance. You head through numerous lecture rooms and corridors killing zombies and finding your way out of the campus.
Eventually, you navigate outdoors where you have to access through a security gate in order to make it off campus. An alarm sets off and you are forced to kill off a pack of hungry flesh-eating zombie horde that has surrounded the two of you. Find some herbs around, as there are plenty of them in case you need it. Don’t waste your ammo too much, use hand-to-hand combat if necessary. Soon after you found the keys, some of the zombies that you come across that were inanimate, comes to life and attempts to attack. If you make it through them and get into the building with the campus keycard  and also go through a security check metal detector, it brings out another horde of zombies.
From this point, you have to go down and then turn right, doing so will bring you across even more hordes of zombies. However you come across a police car for your ticket outta there. A short cinematic scene begins once you hop into the car where you have to find the car keys to start the engine and drive like hell. A short cutscene begins where police zombie breaks into the sidedoor window and tries to grab Leon. Leon spins the car out of control and the car flips and crashes, as the car turns into a big blaze. The duo gets a call from Ingrid Hunningan to proceed through the sewers.
And this is where the demo ENDS!
Good Major Points After Demo Gameplay

·         Like every other Resident Evil game, the graphics has improved (MT Framework is the graphics engine as used in Resident Evil 4 and 5). Looks “Purdy, dang beautiful” and almost realistic. Graphics rating has gone UP and has NOT been downgraded.
·         The looks and feel of the game is similarly related to Resident Evil 4 & 5. The camera angle (over-the-top-shoulder view) in those games was brilliant, however in RESIDENT EVIL 6, the camera angle can get a little confusing and sluggish at times (but still has the over-the-top-shoulder view).
·         The Main Menu & Options interface is completely revamped; looks a lot different from RESIDENT EVIL 5. Item slots, health items, and ammunition have their own category selection interface to choose from. Of what I have seen, all items take up one slot. Yes you can still fit a grenade launcher in your trousers, side pocket, or wherever it fits.
·         The Menu & Pause setting screen are NOT A SAFE HAVEN! That’s right, you can only pause during gameplay when you are offline. Online gameplay does NOT pause the game! Bummer, well that sucks, can’t even take a break or get some snacks..
·         You can now change the laser colour of your weapons to any colours of your choice using the Options settings. (this supports the colour blinded people)
·         The game is actually fast-paced with great multiplayer modes, no lacking as the internet connection/server runs smoothly during gameplay. The Mercenaries was a really fun way to kill as many enemies as possible – go solo or join with online friends to team up and score even higher, plus bonus items/locations are revealed once you complete a stage with a good rating or above.
On my next update, I will be soon reporting on Chris’s part of the Campaign. See you next time, and hope you enjoyed today’s update. 🙂

RESIDENT EVIL 6’s first ever review of the game was published by U.S Sony PlayStation: The Official Magazine. In their review, they mentioned the latest entry in the action/dramatic horror series an “unforgettable experience”.

RESIDENT EVIL 6 has four distinctive campaigns and you can play as Leon S.Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller or Ada Wong. These campaigns are quite “beefy and diverse”. Sony Playstation: The Official Magazine review states that the game has “more content and variety” than any previous titles in the series.

Story-wise, the magazine seems less impressed about it. Capcom characterize the campaign’s plots as “too goofy to really take it seriously”. But still, they consider the storyline to be “more action type with intense gunfights and vehicle chases”.

“RE6 is a strange experience, to be sure – but more importantly, it’s an UNFORGETTABLE one!”, said the the magazine review. When it was time to close the doors, the magazine gave the game rating 9/10, (a cool game that still has some horror in it but has a blend of action/dramatic horror).

A short clip below shows Leon S. Kennedy Hamming it up during the European Civil war…
A short CGI film clip has emerged from the dark showcasing us that Leon has just arrived in the war-torn European country. Armed forces are struggling to battle the oncoming B.O.W.’s as the city has entered a ghost-town battlefield and needs support.

Based on the short clip, Leon receives a short call from Ingrid Hunningan, informing him to evacuate now which is ordered by the U.S Government, but ignores her warning to get out of the country. Instead he heads for the battlefield, (Check out the clip for yourself and find out why!).Leon goes to the battlefield alone to fight the remaining B.O.W.’s including lickers which are being used in the civil war, while elsewhere in the country; the death toll rises because there has been a biohazard leak.

More news will be revealed. Resident Evil: Damnation releases on DVD and Blu-Ray this September 25th 2012.

Wrong date, Capcom confirms demo will hit PSN and Xbox LIVE by a ‘new date’.

It looks like we have to wait a little longer as RESIDENT EVIL 6 demo will land on PSN/Xbox LIVE. Correction; the demo will be out by ‘September 18th 2012’, not on September 5th 2012, (sorry for the wrong date everyone) and will release in the U.S, as well for Europe probably on the same day.

From the Press Release:
Capcom is pleased to confirm that from ‘September 18th 2012’, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners will be able to download the new RESIDENT EVIL 6 demo from Xbox LIVE and Playstation Store. The new demo features completely different content to that contained in the previously released RESIDENT EVIL 6 demo that was exclusively only to Xbox 360 owners with game Dragon’s Dogma.

Players will be able to dive into the content from RESIDENT EVIL 6’s three main campaigns, either solo or co-op with a partner online, and experience firsthand why it is one this year’s most ‘hotly anticipated titles’.

Play as either Leon S. Kennedy or Helena Harper and further explore the dark corridors and moonlit grounds of Ivy University, swarming with victims of the latest bioterrorist attack. The action in Jake’s mission switches to the neon-lit streets of Lanshiang as he and Sherry Birkin fight off the J’avo, including their fully mutated forms. Be sure to check out Jake’s special hand-to-hand combat moves and Sherry’s stun baton as you struggle to stay alive.

Showcasing RESIDENT EVIL 6’s global setting, Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans head with fellow BSAA team members to the war-ravaged streets of Edonia. The amassed J’avo forces provide stiff enough challenge , but that’s before the 3-story high B.O.W. Orgroman crashes the party.
Select Piers for a slightly different weapons loadout than Chris including a sniper rifle with thermal scope.

In addition, for those owners of the Playstation 3 version of Dragon’s Dogma, the exclusive demo previously only available for Xbox 360 owners will be available from September 5th 2012 to download via token redemption on the Playstation Store.
RESIDENT EVIL 6 will release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 across Europe and North America on October 2nd 2012. PC version will soon follow at a later date.
Visit the official website of RESIDENT EVIL 6.

As RESIDENT EVIL 6 rapidly approaches to be shipped out in UK retailers, fans are already excited about the game as some are pre-ordering the game online on sites like Amazon.co.uk, Gamestation.co.uk plus many other video game sites to avoid disappointment. The game is set to be the ‘biggest and baddest’ series in the franchise so far with possibly sales going up rapidly providing a quick boost to CAPCOM’s profits despite their loss of 73.1 percent during the double dip recession back in 2010. CAPCOM mentioned they predicted they will have 7 million copies sold worldwide or possibly more than that for the first week after the release date of the official game launch.

Moving on to the footage… At GamesCom 2012 Press Conference Presentation, (video clip is embedded below this article) Director of RESIDENT EVIL 6 Eiichiro Sasaki demonstrated a gameplay from Jake Muller’s Campaign, to the audience of the event on how cool the game looks including the graphics which looks ‘realistic’ with ‘beautiful vivid colours and high contrast’ when you play on a better HD Ready LCD or LED TV.

The footage also shows during a cut-scene sequence of Sherry Birkin telling her childhood horror of her past as she tells the story about the Raccoon City Incident to Jake Muller, including her parents and their work on Umbrella Corporation. She then mentions her close friendship with Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy as they saved her life on that day when she was infected by her own father, who was mutated into the creature known as the ‘G Monster’ or ‘The G’. Claire was the one who vaccinated Sherry. Jake Muller then teased her on the ‘healing ability’ upon gaining super human powers obtained from the G-virus she was infected inside her body. Moments later, Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin were interrupted by ‘snow zombies’ and decided to make a run for it from the gun toting horde of the infected.

We will also learn about the relationship between Jake Muller and his deceased father, Albert Wesker.

As you know in many previous gameplay footages from the three campaign modes, each three main characters will go their own ways and will somehow ‘intertwine’ with each other, forming an ‘alliance’, to stop the horror from wiping out mankind. Players will experience something ‘unique and different’ about the Campaign as Jake Muller’s part will be more of an action heavy combat style while Leon S. Kennedy will be more darker, grittier and scarier – dramatic survival horror style and Chris Redfield will be fun-action style. This hints that there will be plenty of large-scale firefights, awesome boss battles and numerous waves of zombies will be the most common.
The game has new additional features to the series which is a brand new revamped ‘take cover’ system, dynamic enemy interactions and an on-rails vehicle sequence. CAPCOM said RESIDENT EVIL 6 will have a close resemble to the popular Call Of Duty Series.

So, what do you think about the footage? Was it good? How is the action sequence and what do you think of the vehicles that players can take control for the first time?
Try playing RESIDENT EVIL 6 Demo for yourself and see how the game really excites you, the demo will definitely tell you that you wanna go BUY THIS AWESOME GAME!
The demo will be available to the public via Xbox LIVE Marketplace on September 5th 2012. Don’t miss it as it will be a thrilling start!

RESIDENT EVIL 6 Heroes

As my previous post was on the announcement of the free online web-based tracking service called ResidentEvil.net at the biggest video games LIVE conference event GamesCom 2012, CAPCOM yet again amazed the audience revealing some cool looking trailers and screen images specially for the event for everyone to take a sneak peak of Leon and Jake showing off their moves as they kick zombie ass, trying to save the world once again.

There was more news from CAPCOM:

“Confirming its commitment to support RESIDENT EVIL 6 post launch, CAPCOM chose the press conference to announce ResidentEvil.net, a free web-based service that tracks and graphically represents all of the key in-game stats for players from around the world. At a glance, see how you rate against your friends and be notified in real-time if they have beaten, for instance; your latest Mercenaries score, by linking ResidentEvil.net via your Facebook wall, Twitter or CAPCOM-Unity accounts. Furthermore, players will be able to join fellow gamers around the world and compete in specially organized events.

Press conference attendees at GameCom 2012 were also treated to fresh content from the series newcomer Jake Muller’s campaign. Gun for hire and son of the late infamous Albert Wesker, Jake is on the run from his ceaseless pursuers who require the special blood that runs through his veins to further enhance the deadly C-virus. Holed up in a mountain shack, Jake, alongside Sherry Birkin, must use all their might including firearms if they are to defeat the encroaching deadly creature known as J’avo. But will that be the end of their problems?

During the course of GamesCom 2012, attendees will be able to experience first-hand what promises to be a dramatic survival horror gaming experience of 2012, with three missions from the campaigns of Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jake Muller.
RESIDENT EVIL 6 will release on October 2nd 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3 and a later date for the PC!”

Take a look of the explosive RESIDENT EVIL 6 images and trailers straight from GamesCom 2012. Thanks for reading, more news to come soon! Enjoy your day…

The Trailers from GamesCom 2012

At GamesCom 2012, CAPCOM has confirmed that RESIDENT EVIL 6 will finally have a ‘state-of-the-art Call Of Duty Elite style’ free online web-based statistics tracking service called ResidentEvil.net. and players can show off their scores via Facebook and Twitter.
The free service tracks different types of data as you progress through the game, such as the proficiency with weaponry skills, various types of enemies killed, number of player deaths and Mercenary mode scores. The service also provides special rewards by redeeming their hard earned points from completing certain tasks and events. One of those rewards are special in-game costumes, others may be special weaponry or special moves such as a finishing move for each character. Just have to wait and find out what the prizes really is. Take a look of some the screenshots below showcasing the service:

Another good thing about the service is that it enables players to track their progress in real-time via the leaderboard and player statistics with those across the globe. Players can either team up with others or compete head-to-head in a battle or participation through an online challenging events in which players can compare which players out of them has the most best scores for that particular task.
An example CAPCOM provided was a challenge that tasks players with the killings of 10,000 zombies.

ResidentEvil.net is LIVE but it is still not granted access just yet. It will be launched when the game is released in retailers October 2nd 2012.

My next update will be on Leon’s and Jake’s Trailer showcased at GamesCom 2012 with gameplay screenshots. Stay tuned for more exciting news!!

Hey guys and welcome back to another special update.
More details have been announced for ‘Agent Hunt Mode’, which is similar to Mercenaries Mode, but this time you play the infected and hunt down agents like Sherry and Jake, there is a clip showcasing that below:

For those who want to experience the action and fighting of playing a zombie, J’avo or other C-virus mutations, then the all-new online mode ‘Agent Hunt’ delivers pure perfection to your gaming experience.
As a ‘Hunter’, players will be able to infiltrate other player’s sessions with the aim of terminating the human characters. As a hunter, players will be able to get access to the very unique movements and attacks of each one of the enemies, including various creature transformations you can enable to witness the horror from within. Check out some cool images below by clicking on them.

After watching the clip above and you are asking…’actually, how does Agent Hunt Mode work??’
Well lets get straight to the point:

  • Complete the main campaigns for either Leon, Chris or Jake on any difficulty level to unlock the Agent Hunt Mode bonus stages for each of those respective campaigns.
  • When creating an RESIDENT EVIL 6 gameplay session, a player has the option to allow/not allow Agent Hunt.
  • When a hunter searches for a game session to join, they will see on screen whether or not other players from around the world want to allow hunters into their game session for teaming up.
  • The hunter then chooses another player’s session to join and jumps straight into the game session.
Please note that only certain stages will be available for Agent Hunt Sessions.

  • On the ‘Agent’ side, only a single player with an A.I partner can team up, or two human players on Co-op. Up to two separate hunters can join an Agent Hunt mission. When a hunter dies, they automatically re-spawn where they died previously or at a checkpoint.
  • If the hunter terminates the agent, the session ends with a ‘hunt successful’ message and displays end of results session on screen. The player can start or join in another session if they wish to.
  • If the agent is terminated, then their game session will end exactly as if they had been playing a standard game session with CPU enemies.
  • If the hunter quits the game session, then the agent’s game continues as normal with A.I enemies.
Main Key Features of RESIDENT EVIL 6:

  • Terror goes global – no longer confined to a specific location there is a new strain called the ‘C virus’ and there is an outbreak spreading all over the Earth. Most of the game action takes place in North America, Eastern Europe and China.
  • Multiple characters and mind-blowing horror plots – play as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jake Muller, son of the late Albert Wesker. The main characters will have their respective partners on their mission including Helena Harper, BSAA member Piers Nivans and the U.S Government agent Sherry Birkin.
  • The action also crosses paths – at specific points when the narrative draws two characters together, the ‘crossover’ mechanic allows up to four players to experience the horror together online.
  • Go Solo or Co-op – both single and two player co-op gameplay either online or offline.
  • New exciting challenges – confront the results of the C-virus in all it’s deadliest forms and transformations; zombies return, but now they can run, leap and jump at you, and even can wield dangerous weapons; enemies like J’avo can regenerate itself when injured, plus it evolves something much bigger and scarier; like it’s body parts where wounded can literally transform. So players need to rethink and adapt to it; the C-virus has also given rise to the ‘Chrysalide’, which spawns a host of deadly, horrific creatures.
  • Vehicle-based action – for the first time in history, RESIDENT EVIL 6 contains sections that features cool vehicles such as motorbikes, cars and snowmobiles, players can ride on.
  • Mercenaries mode returns – players can again enjoy a ‘two-man army’ competing against the time limit and defeating as many creatures as possible. Get a bonus unlockable for every high ranking results you get!
  • Redesigned and improved state of the art control system – RESIDENT EVIL 6 now allows players to shoot while moving, slide, evade and roll in any direction to take cover from incoming attacks, you can also counter attack.
  • Localized voice-over – for the first time ever, the game includes fully localized voice-overs in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish as well as subtitles in Brazilian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese and Russian.
